SIT’S WAY TO GO

-

Pets at Home is to start puppy training to help reverse a fall in profits.

It’s part of the high street chain’s push to offer more services.

As well as dog “socialisation”, the firm has also launched pooch pampering sessions, vet surgeries and now flea treatment deliveries to your door.

The rollout of services is part of boss Peter Pritchard’s bid to tackle online competition. “You can’t get your dog castrated on the internet,” he explained. The move comes as £13million pumped into cutting product prices caused profits to fall 12.3% to £84.5m in the year to April. Sales grew 5.5%, with revenues from products up 6.8% to £765m, but services were up 12.3% to £133m.
