Households ringing BT’s directory
enquiries will still pay at least £2.32 a minute – even after a price cut.
The telecoms giant yesterday announced it was reducing the cost of ringing its 118500 number from June 1.
It will cost 77p for the initial call, then £1.55 a minute – still a £2.32 minimum, but down from £5.50.
BT insisted it would be “considerably cheaper than the main 118 enquiry services from all the major providers”.
It offers free online directory enquiry services at www.bt118500.com.
