TV’s Question Time would Wark for me

BBC Newsnight host Kirsty Wark has said she would love to be the next host of Question Time.

But the 63-year-old admitted she will face stiff competitio­n from other political heavyweigh­ts when the job comes up.

She said: “I think there will be many people when David Dimbleby decides he doesn’t want to do it any longer. I think I will be one of them, but I’m sure lots of people will throw their hats in the ring.”

Speaking in Good Housekeepi­ng, she also described some elements of the BBC’s gender pay gap as “outrageous”.

She said: “The idea that women should be paid less for doing an equal job is absolutely outrageous and knowingly or unknowingl­y, the BBC let that grow...”
