Tomato to be a big BBQ hit

A GIANT super-sweet tomato, the Goutini, will be launched this summer, in time for BBQ season.

Growers spent four years perfecting the beefsteak variety with crops in Southport, Merseyside.

A beefsteak usually has a sugar level of 3.5% but the Goutini has twice that – usually only possible in small, salad tomatoes.

Asda grower Andy Roe said the Goutini will “make any barbecue complete” this summer. It will sell in 17 selected stores.
