THE HUNT IS ON TO FIND SMOPS

Join our smart panel to learn the truth and earn an extra £500...

-

WHAT would you do with an extra £500? Spend it on a UK holiday? Give your home a makeover? Or maybe buy yourself a whole new wardrobe in time for summer?

This could be the dilemma you’re faced with if you are selected for a brand new panel we’re putting together, made up of readers who would class themselves as Smart Meter Opponents – or SMOPs.

We’re looking for SMOPs who are yet to install a smart meter and, perhaps, because of the negative stories they’ve heard from friends or through the media, don’t yet know whether to do so.

They’ll be hungry for knowledge about smart meters, intent on separating fact from fiction, and determined to understand both the long and short-term effects of having a smart meter in their home.

Over the next few weeks our selected SMOPs will become real-life consumer champions, calling on the help of a panel of experts from different organisations, such as Smart Energy GB, about the benefits of the smart meter rollout.

To find out the truth behind the headlines, as they question, challenge, research and ultimately discover the real story behind these gamechanging devices.

As a SMOP they’ll also find out the answers to questions such as how to switch suppliers once a smart meter has been installed, how the gadget could help us to make long-term savings, and whether or not smart meters make us more vulnerable to cyber crime.

Not only will our chosen SMOPs be part of an important fact-finding mission into the biggest change to hit the energy sector in decades, they’ll also walk away armed with enough knowledge to make an informed decision about whether or not smart meters will make a positive difference to our lives or cause more trouble than they’re worth.

But with work on creating our SMOP team about to begin, this is your last chance to apply. Applications must be received by 23:59pm on May 25, 2018.

If you want to get involved, email SMOP@reachplc.com and tell us why you think you qualify. Don’t forget, there could be £500 in it for you.
