Reds will Nab £60m Lyon star

- BY DAVID MADDOCK

LIVERPOOL hope to seal a £60million move for Nabil Fekir after the Champions League Final.

The attacking midfielder has been linked with a big-money move to Merseyside for weeks and he appeared to say a tearful goodbye to fans in his last game for Lyon.

But although contact has been made, no deal has been agreed with the French club’s president Jean-Michel Aulas, who has insisted: “You will have to be very, very rich to sign Nabil Fekir this year.”

Talks are due to progress next week though, and the Reds will step up efforts to land Fekir, whose form has been so good this term he may even get past a host of stars for a place in France’s World Cup starting XI.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has identified Fekir as the man he wants to replace Philippe Coutinho, and Liverpool still have enough cash left from that sale to Barcelona to pay close to the asking price, despite the £70m fee for Virgil van Dijk in January.
