LAMPARD IN TALKS OVER DERBY JOB
FRANK LAMPARD has held talks with Derby as he chases his first job as a manager.
The former England and Chelsea midfielder, 39, is favourite to succeed Gary Rowett and Derby owner Mel Morris has told pals he hopes to make an exciting appointment.
Millionaire tech tycoon Morris
will now consider his options for the Championship club at the weekend.
Lampard missed out on the Ipswich Town job and has recently been working as a TV pundit.
Morris had received about 20 serious applicants to replace Rowett, who has moved to Stoke City.
He wants the successful candidate to give more of County’s promising homegrown youngsters a chance after investing in the club’s academy.
And he will cut the Rams’ firstteam budget, but feels they can still have another crack at promotion.
