Man Utd to lead scramble for £120M Bale with two-goal hero ‘unhappy’ in stop-start Real role IT’S ALL SYSTEMS GO
JOSE MOURINHO will lead the summer scramble to sign Gareth Bale.
Manchester United see Bale’s post Champions League final remarks as major encouragement to make a mega-bid to bring the Wales star back to the Premier League. Bale, who turns 29 in July, has made it clear he is unhappy at Real Madrid and needs to be “playing week-in and
week-out” at this stage of his career. United boss Mourinho (above) has already got Bale on his summer wish list as he plans a £250million overhaul.
Bale is a long-standing target and this would be United’s THIRD serious attempt to sign him. But they could face competition from Chelsea and Manchester City.
He has been reluctant to quit Madrid, but Bale’s relationship with boss Zinedine Zidane has completely broken down.
The former Spurs star even admitted Zidane did not speak to him after the game, despite his matchwinning heroics. Bale believes he has to get out, with Zidane set to stay.
When they talk to Real, Bale’s representatives will look for assurances over playing time, but the Spaniards want to sign Neymar from Paris SaintGermain, and also a new midfielder, which will only increase the competition.
Bale’s remarks have put the Premier League on red alert as a return to England is the only viable option because he is on £650,000 a week at Madrid.
Real could want as much as DOUBLE the £89m they paid for Bale five years ago.
