Corrie’s Jack: Men say rape plot helped them seek aid
CORONATION Street actor Jack P Shepherd says men have contacted him about his rape story and sought help thanks to the gritty scripts.
His character David Platt was attacked by mechanic Josh Tucker – in a first for the ITV show.
Jack, 30, said: “On Twitter when they first found out a lot of fans were saying it isn’t right, it is a family show before the watershed. But you just saw a bedroom door. “So then a lot of people were saying, ‘It was really well handled’. That was always Corrie’s aim not to upset anyone. “I’ve had messages from men and women who were grateful. I am proud of the storyline.” This week David will tell mum Gail and he will soon come face to face with Josh. But the main storyline focuses on Pat Phelan’s violent exit.
