Super sheep bleats rest

A SHEEP called Woolies Wonder has won the Lamb Stakes annual race which vegans tried to ban.

Six sheep leapt 2ft fences with teddy bears strapped to their backs for jockeys.

Racing stopped after staff at Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom, near Telford, Shrops, were threatened and 52,000 protesters signed a petition.

But welfare officials said the races were not cruel.

Hoo Farm said: “Everyone here was delighted the event was back on.”
