Thieves nick golf buggy to get burgers
TWO men have been arrested for stealing a golf buggy then stopping at McDonald’s for a burger.
They drove five miles before staff at the drivethrough thought they were drunk and called police.
The £4,000 cart belonged to Richmond Golf Club chairman Bruce Tate, 69, who had left it locked in a shed at the club.
He said of the theft in the early hours of Tuesday: “Off they trotted – all the way from here to Catterick.
“It is lucky they stopped for McDonald’s. I had just filled it with petrol so they could have gone for miles.”
North Yorkshire Police said: “An 18-year-old from Richmond and a 19-yearold from Pickering were held on suspicion of taking without consent.” One was arrested for drink-driving.
