WARNE REWARDED
PAUL WARNE’S prize for guiding Rotherham to a first-time return to the Championship is a new three-year contract.
The Millers boss (left) penned a 12-month agreement when he took permanent charge of the Millers last summer after a spell as caretaker boss.
But he will now be handed a long-term deal after masterminding the Yorkshire side’s recovery from relegation to League One Play-Off Final winners over Shrewsbury three days ago.
New York Stadium chairman Tony Stewart said: ”A three-year deal is waiting for Paul. All he has to do is knock on my door and sign it. He’s done a brilliant job in putting this group of players together, and my relationship with him is more like father and son than manager and chairman.”
However, Warne is giving priority to building a stronger side and said: ”I’ve no plans to rip this side apart, but I must add to it as the Championship will be very difficult.”
