We were not over the moon to see Shane Richie return as Alfie to EastEnders. It’s a silly storyline bringing back Kat and Alfie, left, when they were both feared dead after flop spin-off Redwater. We would have preferred Aidan, played by Patrick Bergin, to have come back. Better storylines are needed for the show to win back viewers. Clint and Jennifer Gibson, Penrith, Cumbria

Channel 5’s Intercity 125: The Train That Saved Britain’s Railways was a great insight into how it revolutionised 1970s rail travel. It was interesting to see how designer Sir Kenneth Grange came up with the aerodynamic-shaped car still in service today, and I enjoyed hearing recollections from Prue Leith, Pete Waterman and Ruth Goodman.
