Buffon: My lonely fight
GIANLUIGI BUFFON has revealed he needed to “rediscover the joy of living” to battle depression.
The Italy and Juventus goalkeeping legend, 40, had a panic attack prior to playing Reggina in 2005.
In a new book, he says: “Nobody noticed and I felt even more alone. I stayed on the pitch, made a save and we won 1-0 – it was like electroshock therapy. I saved myself through pride.
“Then, one day I went to the Turin art gallery and I fell in love with a painting by Chagall, La Passeggiata.
“And I realised that little things could help me rediscover the joy of living.”
