Net addiction ‘to get worse’

ADDICTION to the internet is growing alarmingly and “the worst is yet to come”, warn experts.

A third of patients at UK Addiction Treatment centres had problems with the internet, said psychiatrist Dr Mateen Durrani.

She said they show “anxiety and/or depression if unable to access the internet”, tell lies and become socially isolated.

Some 99% of 16 to 34-year-olds went online last year, said the Office for National Statistics.
