Cars that fall wide of mark

MANY family cars are now too wide to get through standard 6ft 6in width restrictions, Which? warns.

The widest is the 6ft 9in Land Rover Discovery Sport, with the Mercedes GLE Coupe next at 6ft 7in.

The Kia Sedona, BMW X6 and Audi Q7s made before 2015 are 6ft 6in.

They would also get stuck on roads with width restrictions meant to keep out large vans and HGVs.

Which? blamed “the increasing popularity of SUVs and crossovers”.
