France block on security role for UK
FRANCE is blocking Britain’s bid to stay part of an EU security system to track terrorists post Brexit.
The UK wants a guarantee it can access and share vital DNA, fingerprint and vehicle info with other EU countries.
Ministers said Britain’s participation in the Prüm Convention is “clearly in the national interest”.
But Britain has reportedly been rebuffed – with France leading the resistance at a recent meeting.
A senior Government figure said: “Normally France is quite helpful when it comes to security co-operation, but on this, they are being awkward.”
