Capital ‘at risk of earthquake’
FAULTS under London could cause a magnitude 5 earthquake.
The tremor would be like standing on a platform between two trains.
However, there is also a slim chance of a magnitude 6 quake, which could cause structural damage. Imperial College researchers found two fractures under Central London and Canary Wharf.
The findings overturn the traditional view London is geologically stable.
Dr Richard Ghail said the likelihood of an earthquake is “enough to be scary but not fundamentally a problem”.
