£60K DEAL TO KEEP McCARTHY

TOTTENHAM and Liverpool target Alex McCarthy is demanding a £60,000-aweek contract to stay at Southampton. Keeper McCarthy (below) is a free agent next summer and will only sign an extension if Saints match the £3m-a-year deal they gave former No.1 Fraser Forster. Ex-Crystal Palace star McCarthy played a key role in Southampton’s relegation great escape after replacing the error-prone Forster in January. Spurs chief Mauricio Pochettino wants competition for Hugo Lloris, while Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is also monitoring McCarthy, 28, following the Champions League meltdown by Loris Karius last Saturday.
