Prangs pricy for innocent

-

A THIRD of motorists are hammered for costs in crashes caused by another driver, says the RAC.

Its study found they had to fork out up to £349 to cover an insurance excess.

Those needing a hire car and with other travel costs had an average £588 bill.

One in 20 accident victims not covered for loss of earnings found themselves about £3,000 out of pocket.

The motoring body said: “Many believe that the at-fault party’s insurer will cover all the costs following a collision but this is not the case.”
