O’BRIEN’S FRENCH RAID

THE French Derby’s 10-furlong trip was central to the decision to send Dee Stakes winner Rostropovich to Chantilly tomorrow (3.15, live on At The Races) rather than today’s Investec Derby.

“We thought a mile and a quarter might be OK for him after Chester,” said Aidan O’Brien, who also runs Hunting Horn and Kenya in his bid to win the race for the first time.

“We’ve been trying hard to win it but it has never happened yet.”
