Both were born with cystic fibrosis. But while Nicki’s life was saved by a lung transplant, Michelle sadly died before suitable organs became available.

Legislation supporting our call to change the law on donations to an opt-out system is going through Parliament. If MPs need a reminder of why this change is vital they should think of the different fates of Nicki and Michelle.

One unnecessary life lost is one too many.
