Dive probes WW1 U-boat
A GERMAN U-boat sunk by fishermen at the end of the First World War will be explored next week.
The submarine was nailed in August 1918 by armed trawlers off Scarborough, North Yorkshire.
Historic England is funding the underwater survey, which marks the centenary of the war’s end.
Expert Dr Robb Robinson said the wreck “told a remarkable story of pitched battles between armed fishing vessels and U-boats off this coast”.
