HOLBROOK AIMS TO END SAINTS’ DECADE OF DROUGHT

- BY GARETH WALKER

St Helens v Hull FC

Tomorrow, kick off 3.30pm on BBC2

JUSTIN HOLBROOK is fully aware of St Helens’ 10-year Wembley drought as they aim to topple the current holders.

Hull FC have won back-to-back finals while Saints have not graced the national stadium since their 2008 win over the Black and Whites.

Holbrook said: “I knew as soon as I joined the club that it was 10 years since they had been to Wembley.

“It was something we spoke about as a group at the start of pre-season.

“We are aware of it, but we also know there is a long way to go.

“The team are aware it is something special, but the way we play has to be the same.”

Holbrook also insists he is not reading too much into Hull’s injury crisis, which again sees them without first-choice half-back Marc Sneyd, although Albert Kelly was yesterday named in their squad.

The Saints boss added: “They won’t be far off and have won it for the last two years. Lee Radford knows how to get them up for this competition.

“They weren’t sitting top last year, but still went on to win it – they will be preparing to do it again.”
