‘Stay put’ mistakes

-

FIREFIGHTERS were accused of not abandoning their “stay put” policy quickly enough.

Danny Friedman QC said fire safety expert Dr Barbara Lane, and witnesses, queried the logic of keeping the same advice to 2.47am.

He said: “It was a fire beyond their training... and we say it should not have been.”

London Fire Brigade said its advice was suitable for Grenfell Tower when it was built, as a fire should have been contained in one flat. But it said changes over the years may have “undermined the integrity of the original design”.
