Toxic critters invade beach
BEACHES are being hit by an invasion of toxic browntail moth caterpillars.
The insects’ hairs detach easily and can cause rashes and breathing problems.
Bournemouth council urged Southbourne beachgoers not to touch them and to report sightings.
Andrew Brown, spokesman, said: “Warm weather means they are experiencing a breeding boom.”
Last month, the critters forced parts of Budleigh Salterton, Devon, to close.
