Trump frees drug trafficker after plea from Kardashian
DONALD Trump has freed a convicted drug trafficker after discussing her case with reality TV star Kim Kardashian.
The US President commuted Alice Johnson’s life sentence after she pleaded with him at a meeting in the White House last week.
Kim, 37, tweeted last night: “Best news ever.” She was in contact with Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner for months over Johnson’s story. The great-gran, 63, was jailed without parole in 1994 over a cocaine trafficking plot from her home in Memphis, Tennessee. Last month President Trump posthumously pardoned boxer Jack Johnson, convicted in 1913 of transporting a white woman across state lines. Actor Sylvester Stallone had raised his case. Unlike pardons, commutations leave a conviction intact but remove the punishment.
