SECRET OF THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY: INSIDE CADBURY
C5, 9pm With almost 200 years of history, Cadbury is one of the nation’s biggest selling brands. A bastion of Britishness, with its iconic purple wrappers, Cadbury is also a national treasure.
So we’re as excited as Charlie Bucket was when he found his golden ticket to finally get inside the doors of the famous chocolate factory – even if only via our television sets.
Sweeping through the history of the institution, there are some fascinating interviews with everyone from factory workers to former Flake ad girl Janis Levy, plus a chocolate scientist (best job title ever) and even the Milk Tray man himself.
There are plenty of facts and figures to amaze. Cadbury is now a £12billion company, selling chocolate in 40 countries around the world.
At the Bourneville factory in Birmingham, the beating heart of the global operation, up to 350 tonnes of dairy milk chocolate is made every day.
You’d better buy a Dairy Milk bar to eat while watching, you’ll thank me.
