JACKS THE LAD BUT SURREY MISS OUT

-

WILL JACKS gave another glimpse of his huge potential with 80 off 57 balls as Surrey eased to a five-wicket Royal London One-Day Cup win over Glamorgan.

But it was not enough to see Surrey progress from the South Group, with Essex’s win over Kent giving them the final place in the knockout stages along with Kent and table-toppers Hampshire.

Connor Brown scored 98 of Glamorgan’s 266-8. It never looked enough, with Jason Roy and 19-year-old Jacks (right) plundering 77 from 8.3 overs to set Surrey on the way to victory.

Peter Trego scored 100 to help Somerset to a three-wicket win over Hampshire.

The hosts had piled up 356-9 at the Ageas Bowl, with James Vince scoring 109 and Tom Alsop 95.

But Trego, Johann Myburgh (71) and James Hildreth (56) saw Somerset home.
