‘Sane’s at crossroad’

- BY ADRIAN KAJUMBA

LEROY SANE is facing a decisive period in his career after his World Cup dreams were dashed, says Germany legend Michael Ballack.

Former skipper Ballack is as baffled as most people by Germany boss Joachim Loew’s decision to axe Manchester City winger Sane from his plans.

The snub was a huge shock after Sane, 22, inspired City to the Premier League title, scoring 10 goals and getting 15 assists.

Ballack, 41, a Betfair ambassador, said: “That is the question now, how he handles that knock. It would affect him personally more than it would the national team. They are not relying just on Sane. There are a lot of good players.

“How he handles this is the next step in his career. How he can deal with not being selected. It was a big dream to be part of that.

“Football-wise, I can’t understand the decision as Sane is an exceptional player who had a huge development last term.”
