Ram raid for Terry
NEW Derby County boss Frank Lampard plans to bring in pal John Terry as skipper – if he loses captain Curtis Davies.
Lampard’s ex-Chelsea team-mate Terry, 37, is a free agent after leaving Aston Villa.
County stopper Davies, 33, is in demand and a target for former Rams boss Gary Rowett at Stoke.
Mirror Sport understands Rowett has been given a war chest by the Potters after their relegation.
He rates Davies highly after the centre-back played every game last term as the Rams finished sixth before losing in the play-offs to Fulham.
Lampard and Derby owner Mel Morris are both ready to keep Davies as skipper. But Morris is cutting his budget and may accept a bid of around £3million for the defender.
The funds would then be used to pay for Terry, who earned £60,000 a week at Villa, and is currently entertaining lucrative offers from the US and China.
