GMB in huge ‘no’ to 3 year NHS pay deal
GMB members have rejected a three-year NHS pay deal by nearly 9-1.
The union, which represents tens of thousands of health staff was the only one of 14 unions to recommend refusing the offer.
It said a rise of 6.5% for staff in England amounted to years of real-term cuts.
GMB general secretary Tim Roache said: “After nearly a decade of pay pinching, the prospect of a further three years of cuts to wages is unacceptable.”
Ballot results from other health unions will be announced in a few days.
A pay cap has been in place since 2010.
