JULIAN Monaghan joins a list of shamed pilots jailed or banned from the skies for being drunk.

Last year, Carlos Roberto Licona, 45, got 10 months after trying to board his United Airlines flight from Glasgow to the US while at seven times the limit.

In 2015, Ian Jennings, 47, was locked up for nine months for flying a commercial chartered plane from Spain to England while drunk.

Two years earlier, Pakistani pilot Irfan Faiz got nine months in Britain for being three times the limit.

In March a TAP Air Portugal co-pilot was found boozed up in the cockpit at Stuttgart. His licence was revoked.

Captain Alexander Pavlushko, 37, and co-pilot Dmitry Lugov, 29, were recently fired from Russian airline Pobeda for being drunk on duty.
