10 mins fresh air for fifth of young adults
ONE in five young adults spends less than 10 minutes a day outdoors, according to a survey.
And a third of 18 to 24-year-olds admit they are in the fresh air for just half an hour.
Over-55s said they were outdoors for two-and-ahalf hours at that age.
Some 51% of youngsters said it was too cold to go out, 29% complained it was too muddy and 22% cannot stand bugs, sustainable farming charity LEAF found.
Half said they stayed in to watch films or TV while a third wanted to be able to check social media.
Essex University’s Dr Mike Rogerson said getting out more could help tackle high levels of depression, saying: “It benefits mental and physical health.”
