Salah: I’ll be ready

- BY DAVID ANDERSON

MO SALAH has vowed to be fit for Egypt’s World Cup opener against Uruguay on Friday.

The Liverpool striker claimed he was winning the race to recover in time from a shoulder injury.

He signed autographs and posed for selfies at an open training session in Cairo on Saturday, although he did not fully join in with the rest of Hector Cuper’s squad.

Salah told a farewell reception hosted by president Abdel Fattah el-Sisi: “I promise you, I’ll do my best to be ready for the World Cup and to achieve the Egyptian dream.

“I feel much better now and I’ll be ready to play against Uruguay.

“I’ll never give up on my dream and I promise to do my best for our people.”

Salah, injured by Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos in the Champions League final defeat two weeks ago, flew into Grozny yesterday with the Egypt squad. The Chechen capital will be their training base.
