JIMMY SHOULDERS THE BURDEN

-

JAMES ANDERSON has taken a swipe at the “ridiculous” summer schedule that will see England play India in five Tests over six weeks.

And there are real fears that seam bowling kingpin Anderson (right) may not make it through the entire series owing to a chronic right shoulder problem that will see him take a six-week break to prepare.

He aims to be back for the Roses clash with Yorkshire just before the first Test at Edgbaston on August 1.

“It is more rehab than time off,” said Anderson, 35. “The medical team and management are just managing my shoulder through what will be a busy period against India.

“It is a ridiculous schedule of five Tests in six weeks – and that will put a lot of stress on it.”
