May sinks Johnson’s plan for a £15bn bridge over Irish Sea

BORIS Johnson’s bid for a £15billion bridge between Scotland and Northern Ireland has been sunk by Theresa May.

The Foreign Secretary’s latest grand infrastructure plan was a road connection across the Irish Sea.

But, torpedoing the proposal, the PM’s spokesman said: “I’m not aware of any plans for a bridge.” The link from Great Britain to Northern Ireland is the third bridge Mr Johnson has proposed. As London Mayor he wasted £46.4million drawing up plans for a Garden Bridge over the Thames. And earlier this year, he called for a bridge from Dover to mainland Europe. Labour’s deputy leader Tom Watson said: “It’s time we introduced a ‘three bridges and you’re out’ rule.” Lib Dem MP Layla Moran added: “The man is a buffoon.”
