MISSION Claire and Jamie

MORE4, 9pm More romance, war, feisty heroines and men in kilts as this entertaining time travel fantasy drama returns for a second series.

English nurse Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and her Highlander lover Jamie (Sam Heughan) were last seen fleeing Scotland for France in the 1740s.

But as this second series begins, she finds she’s landed back in 1948 and is utterly distraught about it.

Wandering the roads looking confused, a passing driver asks if she’s OK. “What year is it? Who won the Battle of Culloden?” she yells, freaking out.

This is before she has to face her husband Frank (Tobias Menzes) who, understandably, fears for her erratic mental health. Time travel will do that to a girl.

Later on, Claire is back with Jamie as they enter the lavish world of French society and try to prevent the Battle of Culloden.

This requires completely casting aside any need for plot sense, but it’s dramatic and fun nonetheless. OFF THE GRID Anne and the girls
