J McAlister, Rotherham, South Yorks TRIBUTE Ian Lavender as Pike I was delighted to read that the Royal Mail is to release a special set of stamps to mark the 50th anniversary of Dad’s Army (Mirror, June 12).

It will be great to see all the characters represented on the stamps, each with a catchphrase. What a fitting tribute to a classic British show which is so much better than what passes for comedy these days. John Whitehouse, Tiverton, Devon Charles Williams
