DAVID WILLEY’S inside knowledge of the Aussie white-ball bowlers was the key to deciphering 22 varieties and recording his highest ODI score. AJ Tye is the king of the slower ball in the Big Bash and claims to have 22 variations, but after playing alongside him at the Perth Scorchers, Willey has a better idea than most what was coming.

“I think our batters are better for having faced them,” said skipper Eoin Morgan. “Will went in and assessed the situation really well and used his plan. They bowled their variations quite well but Will has played with and against them.”
