£500k fine for cold calling

-

a Cold-calling PPI compo firm Help Your Claim Ltd has lost an appeal against a £553,000 fine.

The Claims Management Regulator imposed the penalty after hearing complaints such as: “They constantly harass me… they will not take no for an answer.”

Some of the complaints about unwanted calls came from people registered with the Telephone Preference Service.

The fine has now been confirmed by a tribunal, which said that evidence against the firm, which makes around 1.5 million calls a month, was “indicative both of dishonesty and a lack of integrity”.

Its ruling slammed the management, saying that many of the breaches were “attributable to the absence of competent persons with appropriate knowledge at the helm”.

Help Your Claim is owned by 38-year-old fitness fanatic Kamran Ahmed and boasted a turnover of almost £17million last financial year.
