Tragedy lad’s mum suicide

THE mum of a boy who died in a house fire hanged herself two weeks later, an inquest has heard.

Kelly-Anne Carter, 35, lit Halloween candles in 2016 but nodded off after drinking alcohol and taking sleeping pills.

She woke to find the house in Sandbach, Cheshire, on fire and could not rescue son Lucas, eight.

Coroner Claire Welch concluded the boy’s death was an accident, adding: “Kelly took her life because she could not cope.”
