Recluse who now cannot keep quiet

THOMAS Markle’s inability to keep his mouth shut has landed him in hot water again.

By repeating a private conversation with a member of the royal family to a British TV host, he has blundered into yet another drama.

It is an unwritten rule that the royals never discuss politics and yet here goes Markle giving Harry’s views on Brexit and Donald Trump.

After the staged photos before the wedding, you would have thought he would just keep quiet. Either he is a fool or ignoring any advice.

Perhaps he is not being helped by anyone, but if not, why not? He is a smoking gun for Kensington Palace.

Admittedly, Harry’s political remarks were not particularly controversial. He is seasoned enough to be diplomatic. But Meghan must be upset having the personal details of her life aired so publicly and this would upset Harry.

Her dad was once her idol. “I love you,” she wrote in 2016.

Now she must wish he would just shut up.

There is a cultural glut between the modern duchess and her once reclusive father. Telling Harry, “never raise your hand against my daughter,” sounds more like something out of a John Wayne western than a remark a father would make to his future son-in-law.

Tom Markle said he would love to meet the Queen. She would be forgiving. Too polite to say anything about his mistakes, she would welcome him if he had the chance again.

But now I doubt he will.
