MARTINEZ HAZARD WARNING ON FOULS

- BY NEIL MOXLEY

ROBERTO MARTINEZ fears Eden Hazard might be kicked out of the World Cup.

Belgium’s boss spoke out after Panama’s repeated strong-arm tactics (below) left the Chelsea man counting the cost after the final whistle.

Hazard limped away from the Fisht Stadium following the comfortable 3-0 win over the central Americans.

Panama picked up five bookings and Hazard departed with his left leg heavily strapped.

Martinez said: “The yellow cards were mounting.

“It’s a worry for us that with any of those kind of tackles he could get hurt. That’s a way of trying to stop him. Everyone is allowed to prepare for games in any way that you can. That’s part of the rules.

”But you run the risk of players being sent off.

“My worry is that we lose the opportunity to enjoy the quality of player like Eden. That doesn’t go just for Eden. It’s any player with the ability to take players on.

“Hopefully we get lucky in that respect.”

Panama coach Hernan Gomez defended his side’s approach.

He said: “We are a very organised team.

“We organise our game – sometimes we look tough but other teams are also very tough and physically strong.

“We never have the intention to be tough. But they are strong men too.

“Belgium’s players played hard. But we try not to hurt anyone. We don’t have bad intentions.”
