NEWSBOY’S 1-2-3 I’M CLEAR ON CLARITY
1 PERFECT CLARITY 2 WILD ILLUSION 3 SUN MAIDEN
PERFECT CLARITY disappointed when fancied for the Oaks – but there were excuses.
Clive Cox’s filly went of the 5-1 third favourite in a field of nine, but beat just two home behind Forever Wild Illusion Together, with ahead in second, and Magic Wand
fourth. Afterwards, Cox was unhesitant in attributing the no-show to the rainsoftened terrain at Epsom – and he had a point.
The going was good when Perfect Clarity made a winning debut at Nottingham last August.
And it was good to firm when she put herself in the Classic picture with a taking victory from Lady Of Cecchini, with Shalott
back in fourth, in the Listed Lingfield Oaks Trial in May.
After a dry week in Berkshire, the racing surface should be perfect and Adam Kirby’s mount should be given another chance.
Wild Illusion’s silver medal from the Oaks makes her the form horse, while the lightly raced pair Sun Maiden Dancing and Brave Bear are capable of better.
