His latest strop isn’t really about human rights. He sucks up to Kim Jong-un who runs a rape, torture and murder machine in North Korea. For a fistful of dollars he is happy to ignore bloody oppression by regimes in Saudi Arabia, China, Egypt and the Phillipines.

The tantrum’s immediate trigger was criticism of Trump’s degrading treatment of children on the US-Mexico border and Israel’s massacre of unarmed Palestinians.

A deeper explanation is that the Oval Office scoundrel acts first and thinks second – if he reflects at all.

Barack Obama started to reassert the moral authority of the US but it is now resuming a rampage that is a danger to the globe.

On an imperfect UNHRC the States had a platform and a voice.

Tweeting Fake News is a bad substitute for reasoned argument and co-operation.
