SIMONA HALEP, the world No.1, has pulled out of next week’s Nature Valley International in Eastbourne as she looks to regain full fitness ahead of Wimbledon.

The 26-year-old Romanian (below) ended her long wait for a maiden Grand Slam title at the French Open this month.

She revealed: “I was experiencing Achilles tendon pain and inflammation during the tournament in Paris and it has yet to fully recover.

“My doctors have advised me it needs more rest while I continue treatment.”
