LUCAS TORREIRA’S £26million move to Arsenal has been all but confirmed by Sampdoria.

The Italian club’s president Massimo Ferrero admitted the Uruguay star (right) is Emirates-bound, saying: “Torreira has left for €30m.

“I bought him from Pescara when no one believed. We gambled and won, paying just €3m (£2.6m).

“The money that comes in is used to keep the club going.”

Midfield anchor Torreira, 22, is set to become the third arrival in new boss Unai Emery’s Arsenal squad overhaul.

Deals for right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner and keeper Bernd Leno have already been done.
