KON CAN DO TRICK

1 KONCHEK 2 SHANG SHANG SHANG 3 VINTAGE BRUT

KONCHEK didn’t get the rub of the green at Sandown last time, but can enjoy better luck this time.

The son of Lethal Force must have shown up on Clive Cox’s gallops – he went off the 2-1 favourite for the five-furlong maiden on Newmarket’s 1,000 Guineas undercard.

And the colt justified the support, beating Fly The Nest by a length and threequarters in good style.

Cox then went to Sandown’s National Stakes, where Konchek was poorly drawn in stall eight of nine.

Adam Kirby’s mount started slowly, but finished well to get within a neck Vintage Brut and a head of – who had the advantage of a far-rail berth – with Kinks

back in sixth. Without a disadvantageous draw to worry about, Konchek is fancied to turn the form round. Shang Shang Shang impressed on his Keeneland debut and isn’t passed over lightly.
