Movie buffs will be in film heaven when they stay at Ibis Styles London Ealing, just opened, near to the iconic Ealing TV and film studios. Taking inspiration from its famous location, imaginative décor features movie artwork, paparazzi shots and mirrors bordered with faded cine reels.

Guests will get the red-carpet treatment of a fast check-in by staff equipped with smartphones and tablets, to whisk them straight to one of the 120 rooms.

And, in keeping with the cinematic theme, there are bedside tables fashioned from film cans with mini-studio-style lamps, plus a 42in TV screen will feel like you’re in own private cinema.

The on-site restaurant serves continental breakfast (included in the room rate), snacks and evening meals or, for a cold beer or coffee, head to the stylish Studio bar. Doubles from £52 a night. ibis.com

Manhattan’s historic Flower District will be positively blooming this autumn when Moxy Chelsea opens its doors in the urban jungle of New York City. Floral flourishes will include a fragrant flower shop, greenhousestyle atrium and conservatory.

And the crowning glory will be the spectacular rooftop lounge on the 35th floor, which transforms into an al fresco veranda, thanks to a retractable window wall. The 349-room hotel will also be debuting Italian-themed dining and drinking, including a caffe and pasticceria. Rooms start at £120 a night. moxychelsea.com
